OH! dang Saladang

Sooo I ate at Saladang this week, and honestly don't judge a book by is cover. When you first drive up it's this big cement building with no color or anything but a little tiny sign up above the door that says Saladang. Inside are beautiful flower arrangements on all the tables and in the center of the restaurant is a larger arrangement. I went for lunch and I found they have pretty good lunch specials. You got two spring rolls, your choice of white or brown rice, your main dish, and a starter garden salad with peanut dressing. But, I got pad thai which was not apart of the lunch specials. I was surprised at the presentation of this dish. It wasn't the normal noodles just slapped on a plate. It almost looked like a noodle omelet. The pad thai noodles were wrapped inside a thin layer of egg. The noodles were cooked with a peanut sauce, chicken, and shrimp. If you like the plate had a lot a veggies but for me I didn't really like all that garnish it almost over powered my plate. But, none the less it was so tasty and full of flavor I hardly noticed. At the end of the meal just when I thought it was all over I didn't get those stale fortune cookies I always get at every other restaurant, I got an orange and cream small scoop of ice cream. It tasted like a orange dream-sicle. It was a perfect ending to a good meal. And the very very cherry on top just before I left I got a nice light mint wrapped in colorful cellophane. So please stop by Saladang on 363 South Fair Oaks in Pasadena, California.

ps sorry guys they didn't have a website so I'ma link it over to another site where you can read some other reviews and opinions.

Muy Bueno!

Today I ate at Cabreras Mexican food. I had the chicken and mole. This place is family owned and i know they have other locations but I heard they were not as good so I went to the one in Arcadia on live oak. When first seated you are served chips and a typical tomato salsa. When going to this restaurant be sure to ask if they have hotter salsa but only if you like it spicy. They will offer you a choice from red or green salsa. I choose to get both, but I favor the green one. But, if you like really hot salsa thats as good as its gonna get lol. BUUUUUUT, I ordered the chicken with mole (pronounced mo-lay in case you don't eat much mexican food). Mole is made with chocolate, spices, and different chilies. You get a thigh and a leg and it is served with beans and rice. I asked for extra avocado and it was 55 cents exrta. I paid a lil over 10 dollars for this meal. Cabreras isn't the best place I've ever been to but I do like their mole. They have a great kids menu and the desserts are pretty tasty. So, I liked it.. It's not a bad place to go. Drop by Cabreras on 625 East Live Oak in Arcadia.

Yes i Kansai!

OH yes I can Kansai. I ate at Kansai this week, and I have to say this is the first time I ate at a Japanese restaurant that wasn't all sushi. They had maybe one sushi item. They served rice, noodle, and sashimi combos and boxes. I had the OYAKO JYU which was a box of rice with diced chicken cooked with an egg and grilled onions on top. The meal came with pickled vegetables and miso soup. It was all so good my meal was hot and steaming from beginning to end. So please stop by and try something new at 36 South Fair Oaks in Old Town Pasadena and take a stroll into Kansai and I highly recommend the rice boxes.

So I went to two restaurants! This is #2!

SOOO I ate at the restaurant as suggested to me by Josh Mendoza and I went to 1810 Argentinean Restaurant. When i first got there I was served a french roll with chimchurri. And i ordered pollo al ajo which was grilled chicken breast, with caramelized onions and garlic served with mashed potatoes. The chicken was cooked perfectly and chicken was definitely a good match with mashed potatoes. The potatoes were lightly seasoned in herbs and had small pieces of potato to give it that homemade feel. All in all this meal was absolutely delightful! I recommend stopping by old town Pasadena the address is 121 w. Colorado remember the name of the place is 1810 they also offer three course meals for 25 bucks so its not so bad but it is well worth it!

So I went to two restaurants! This is #1!

OK the first place I went to was for lunch it was called Grandview Palace II, it's a Chinese restaurant on Colorado in Pasadena. So apparently when you go for lunch it comes with your choice style of rice, your choice of the main dish, soup, and an egg roll. So my meal started with a soup i choose from between egg drop soup and hot and sour, I picked the hot and sour soup. I began well the soup was really good it was just the right amount of spice to keep my mouth burning but not set it on fire lol.

Then my main part of the meal was not as good, the chicken itself cooked in its batter was nice and crispy. But, I didn't like that my meal was so sweet. My chicken was swimming in sauce. This meal would have been so much better if i could have tasted what the chicken tasted like. The egg rolls were good, there's was actually a man across the room making the egg rolls by hand. I think thats kinda cool but i dont know how sanitary that is just sitting in the corner of the restaurant just making food in front of your costumers? but it's not my store now is it lol.

SOOOOOOO, if your caving Chinese food may i suggest the place you always go to. And sorry guys i would have hyperlinked the site so you can atleast check it out for yourself but they don't have a wesite sorry!

Today at PASHA

Today I had the pleasure of eating at Pasha Fresh Mediterranean Grill. Located in Pasadena on Colorado in Old Town. I was welcomed with a very nice greeting when I walked in and immediately offered samples of hummus, baba ghonoush, and a garlic sauce, all of which were very tasty. So i ordered the vegetarian plate because it offered me the most amount of food for the least amount of money. It came with hummus, four falafuls, four stuffed grape leaves, toubuleh, tahini sauce and pita bread all for $8.99. They also had a small buffet of assorted sauces, three hot tomato sauces, tahini, red chili, lemons and peperchini's. I normally eat my falafuls warm but a slightly chilled falaful was just as good. The hummus was great and the toubuleh was really fresh and flavorful. I recommend if your curious to try some Mediterranean food you should stop by at Pasha on 124 E. Blvd in old town Pasadena.

Up next I'm going to 1810 Argentinean Restaurant as requested by Josh Mendoza... thanks for all your suggestions!

A Dish At DISH

This weekend I ate at Dish: Breakfast Lunch and Dinner. And I ordered a veggie burger with a side of sweet potato fries. The patty itself was made of lentils, mushrooms, and onions. At first, I was a little skeptical about a veggie patty because past experiences have told me veggie patty equals nasty. They are almost never good and they're dry and tasteless. I'd have a better time eating a sock then most veggie patties. But, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The patty was moist and it practically melted in my mouth. It was so full of flavor I didn't expect it. The lentils were a nice twist from the normal rice and soy based nasty veggie patties. And may I highly recommend trying sweet potato fries. If you have never had then please at least try them once because they're better than regular fries and better for you. So, if you ever catch yourself in La Canada, please stop by at Dish on 734 Foothill!

HI ALL!!

Hello all, my name is Dominique M. and I'm starting this blog because I really enjoy eating at restaurants but if your like me then sometimes just you get tired at eating at the same ol' places every week and you get tired of shelling out a bunch of money for a rinky dink sandwich. Or your like my mom and you don't like to try new places or even new foods, because it's hard to find new places that are even worth going to. You may be afraid of wasting your money at a new place you didn't even want to go to in the first place and it wasn't even that good and your most likely not going back. It's always the same story, the food was good but the service was terrible oooor you just get stuck with horrible food and a waste a money and it doesn't even matter how good the service is. I wanted to start this blog because I want to help people find fresh, new, fun, tasty, and inexpensive places to eat, so i hope you enjoy my blog!

P.S each week I'll be writting about each new place i visit in the Pasadena, Arcadia, LA, SO CAL area... so feel free to leave a comment of a place you wanted to eat at but were to scared to eat at I will be more than happy to try it out for you... Just remember I'm in the Pasadena, California area!
